General
A crisis beyond your control, as unavoidable as the weather, may be knocking at your door. But remember: destructive as a hailstorm looks, it is really a cleansing force that clears away what has run its course. The clarity that follows the storm will be worth the shaking you feel now.
Love
A tension that has built up for a long time, or a truth left unspoken, may now come to the surface. Painful as this upheaval is, it will let you break unhealthy patterns and move onto more honest ground. Allowing the change rather than resisting it will heal in the long run.
Career
An unexpected change beyond your control may hit your working life — an organisational crisis or a sudden decision could catch you unprepared. This upheaval is really a necessary step in renewing structures that have grown stale. Staying flexible will let you come out of the transition stronger.
Considered one of the most intense and demanding runes — it stands for a sudden but cleansing transformation; suited to short, deliberate work rather than being carried all the time.
Rune Poem
In the poem hail is the whitest of grains, whirled from the sky and tossed by the wind, until it turns to water.
History and Myth
Speaks of the forces of nature no one controls; the second aett begins with it.
Inner Life
Waking through crisis; a clearing out.
Shadow Side
Resisting change and being buried under it.
Harmony and Tension
Builds endurance with Nauthiz; interrupts the joy of Wunjo for a while.
In Talismans
Used in talismans for breaking through blockages.
What am I learning from the storms I cannot avoid?
